Since the launch of our winter collection, SpencerLacy devotees
have asked us where we found the gorgeous pink scarf that graces the cover of our catalogue. A one-off piece, it was designed and knitted by our crafty creative director Liz. Alas, the scarf in question is not for sale but there is great news!

It’s hip to be square

SpencerLacy and friends have started their own knitting initiative and whilst its members believe that you can never have too many scarves, beanies and leg warmers, they also realise that there are charities who desperately need our knitting assistance. That’s why we’re casting on for a cause with the SpencerLacy knitting initiative:

‘Hip to be Square’
. the pink scarf Simply follow our ‘Hip to be Square’ knitting pattern, knit as many squares as you can and we’ll sew them together to make blankets which will be donated to the Sacred Heart Mission in St Kilda, who’ll then distribute them amongst the needy this winter.

Every Screen Siren who sends in at least one knitted square receives a SpencerLacy thank you gift, whilst the person who knits the most squares will receive a replica of the original pink scarf hand-knitted by Liz.

Why not start your own knitting club?

After all, as every Screen Siren knows – it’s ‘Hip to be Square’.
Cast on for Charity Using no 7 needles (5mm) and 12 ply wool cast on 30 stitches. Knit 48 rows garter stitch (knit every row). Cast off loosely. We encourage you to be as creative as you can.

Experienced knitters can knit any stitch in any yarn as long as it measures 15cm x 15cm when finished.

Send your finished squares to:
Hip to be Square 27-31 Munster Terrace North Melbourne VIC 3051
with your name, address, daytime telephone number and email.
